For the Love of Music

Music has always served as my main source of inspiration. Before I discovered design, I wanted to be a music producer. I would tune my ears by playing the percussion, piano, and experimenting with various instruments. Following that same process, I started this project to experiment with music, grids, type, and mixed media.
In music, a crescendo is a term used for the gradual increase in loudness of music. Opposite of that, is a decrescendo or diminuendo (try saying that five times fast). These terms were applied to the background and gradients of the posters; ‘crescendo’ of black from 0% to 100% and ‘decrescendo’ of color from warm to cool.
For this particular series, I listened to either Hip-Hop, R&B, or Reggae from different countries. Whichever artist would strike a chord, I would create a poster. The elements of that poster were inspired by the sounds of that artist or country. Whether it was fast tempo, 808s, or blend melodies, I would try to emulate that sound and manifest it into my designs.
